SKB‑Group GmbH is one of Austria’s leading companies specializing in the production and distribution of various types of cables, primarily for industrial applications. Its portfolio includes a vast range of diversified products. SKB‑Group is a parent company comprising several enterprises located in Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Ukraine. The project involved developing a web application that would allow effective product catalog management and present the products attractively on the website.

Together with the SKB‑Group team, the guys from Tailcode (tailcode.pl), and designer Matt Wojtaś (check out his portfolio on Dribbble!), we set an ambitious goal - to create an engaging website that would make it easier for clients to contact the cable manufacturer while showcasing its impressive product portfolio in an appealing way.

We built a website based on modern branding, enriched with a large number of multimedia elements - photos, graphics, and product renders. To help clients find the right product, we implemented a search engine that allows filtering by names, tags, and categories.

The website also features sections presenting potential product applications, completed projects, company staff and culture, an interactive Google Maps integration, various contact forms, a product catalog, a media center, and much more.

One of the biggest challenges was creating a separate page for presenting metal prices, which play an important role in the cable manufacturing industry. Prices are updated daily, and customers can check the current rates for each company as well as review historical data. Everything is fully manageable through a custom-built CMS.

The website is also integrated with 'Cable Cloud,' a system developed by the Tailcode team. It allows complete product portfolio management - defining technical parameters, descriptions, product images, and contact persons - and also enables generating product sheets in PDF format, ready for both print and online publication.

technical aspects

The SKB Group web application project supports multiple domains, each assigned to a separate company. The application is fully centralized - all content is managed through a single administration panel. Once logged in, users gain access to multi‑language content editing based on their assigned permissions.

The SKB Group website was built using the Vue.js framework. The front‑end code is organized into generic components, allowing for extensive customization and easy project maintenance.

The backend is powered by Laravel and features a custom CMS that enables comprehensive management of every subpage. Admin panel users can, among other things, check the inbox, manage files available on the website, edit daily‑updated metal prices, adjust advanced settings, add or remove languages, customize the menu, and much more.

For styling, I have used TailwindCSS, which allowed us to create a lightweight, fully responsive interface with fast loading times. Combined with best SEO practices, the use of alt attributes, aria‑labels, and other accessibility features, along with optimized images and video content, the website delivers high performance and improved search engine visibility.
